 Bedlam Upgrade Information

01/06/07

Varnish:  I know with sailboats that goes without saying.  Greg varnished the companionway stairs and put some non-slip pads down.  So there is probably a better chance I won't skip and bust my you know what.

HATCH COVERS:  This has really helped cool down the boat when it's 100 degrees, yes with the air-conditioner running.

12 VOLT HELLA FANS:  We have installed fans in the main cabin and the V-berth, there are pictures in the 6/8/06 album.  They will be really helpful this summer.  Note: it was a 100 degrees today.

COCKPIT CUSHIONS:  C-Cushions http://www.ccushions.com/ , we ordered two larger ones for the cockpit and 2 hinged squares.  Which we can move around as needed. Pictures of them are in the 6/8/06 album.

WINDLASS: Lewmar Sprint 1000 along with a new battery.  With foot controls at the bow and a plug in control in the cockpit.

ANCHOR:  Primary anchor -  22lb Delta, 20 ft. of 5/16 hi-tensile chain with 150 ft. of 9/16 mega-brait II.

ENGINE:  Motor mounts are replaced.  A new shaft, coupling and a PYI dripless packing gland has been installed

INSTRUMENTS:  We have new Raymarine instruments  (ST60 +).   http://www.raymarine.com

DECK:  Original non-skid was ground off and repainted with light grey awlgrip.  Handrails have been replaced with stainless.   The two large Lewmar hatches were replaced.

HULL:  The hull has been sanded, primed and repainted (white) with blue stripes.  The bottom has been painted with VC Offshore.   A new thru hull-has been put in for the air-conditioning.

MAST - To ease raising and lowering the main we have installed a Tides Marine - Strong Track  http://www.tidesmarine.com/sail-track.html   The mast and boom have been repainted with imron  (white) and the sheaves and halyards (10mm T900) have been replaced.

Spartite- A two part polymer that goes around the mast to seal the opening.  http://www.spartite.com  A  few hints, tape around the mast above the pour level this will help with any spashes, a funnel to pour into would also help.  Make sure and put clay into the track at the back of the mast.   Ours leaked a little down the slide track, but it wasn't too bad.

HEAD - Replaced the old Raritan PHII with a new one same make and model.  The holes lined up just fine.  Getting to the nuts was a little tricky, we had to saw a little bigger opening under the forward part of the port settee.  But it made access a lot easier.

MISC-We  replaced the lexan on the dorad boxes.  We cleaned and painted the dorads, they are in good shape.    Greg has taken all the winches apart and serviced them.   We have replace the self adjusting genoa tracks with non-self adjusting.

The companion way wood has been replaced with starboard as well as the wood on the sterncap.  We also put starboard on the swim ladder.  We replaced the lexan in the companionway hatch boards.  No exterior wood  will make maintenance easier.
